How to deal with my mother's dementia

How to deal with my mother's dementia
    Dementia And My female parent

I ne'er fanciful i would be losing my mother

    Day by day

    Moment by moment

To one thing known as insanity.

I fanciful we'd have quiet times

    Of reminiscing

Of taking part in board games,

But a crook scarf in and claimed her vision

    And gone were the puzzles

    The games of Scrabble

    Even crazy 8's.

Next to travel was her memory.

"Why am I here during this place?"

"When am i able to go home?"

    "Where ar my things?"

"I suppose I own this building, I hereditary it."

"Do you recognize wherever my space is?"

"I ne'er see you." female parent i have been here daily.

"Why cannot i'm going with you?"

Because you cannot walk, you're in a very chair.

    "Yes I can"

Mom you would like facilitate to travel to the lavatory

To get in and out of bed it takes 2 individuals

"Your father was here, he slept with Pine Tree State last night"

Dad has been gone for pretty much twenty years

But they tell Pine Tree State to only consider her thus as to not upset her

But it upsets Pine Tree State...

Confined to a chair her days drag by

She sleeps or goes out into the sun, "to absorb"

"I'm glad you are here" she says then dozes

Each day a similar, however a bit completely different

The meals she does not keep in mind

The time of day she has no plan

Waiting, inquisitive why she remains alive

"I told you i would not lallygag around, however i am still here"

It's okay female parent, we tend to ar glad you're still here.

It had been returning for a few time. Since last fall she had been in and out of the hospital with varied infections and that we thought she was gone in March once her vital sign born and she or he had another infection, however she rallied even while not the medication. the matter was she was not able to walk on her own. She had required facilitate for a few time and that i had been staying at her residence 24/7 for weeks. it had been time to create a modification to a home. we tend to did the work so waited. She had to remain within the hospital as she couldn't return to her residence. That meant we tend to had to wash out her space - freely giving several things that may not slot in her new space - dressers, chairs, tables, and her electrical bed. Family took what they may, however we tend to simply gave away what was left.

My sister lives five hours away, thus she tries to return up each different weekend that helps, however the most care giving falls on Pine Tree State. I feel terribly guilty if I can't get in daily, although i do know that she is safe. There ar very little things that don't seem to be being done, that they do not have time for as a result of they need too many of us to seem once. i am distressed what is going to happen to Pine Tree State once I get to be ninety eight years previous. it is time the govt. paid a lot of attention to senior health care.
